Dubai - February 2019

Taking advantage of Emirates Airlines "free of charge" offer, we stayed over in Dubai for a few days on our way home. It was a fun stop. We enjoyed our 3 days in Dubai immensely.

When your first UBER ride from the airport was a fancy Mercedes with its driver in black suit and tie, you know you come to one of the richest and fastest growing economic city in the world!

Our hotel, the Sky Hotel Apartments is in Deira, an older and more traditional part of the city. It's only a short walk to a metro station. We took hop-on hop-off bus tour for two full days in Dubai. It was a great way to see around Dubai. The bus tour included a visit to Dubai Museum as well as two cruises: Dubai Marina and Dubai Creek. We also visited the beautiful Atlantis Palm Jumeriah, the amazing Burj Al Arab, the famous Mall of Emirates and Dubai Mall where the tallest building of the world, the Burk Khalifa is located.

Marina Cruising : Dubai Marina is an artificial canal in Dubai. Cruising the marina is a great way to relax and to view the luxury ambience, yachts and skyscrapers that make Dubai famous.

From the top deck of the hop-on hop-off bus, we craned our necks to marvel the amazing modern architecture of these skyscrapers among the tallest in the world.

Cruising Dubai Creek: The Creek area of Dubai is more like the old traditional Dubai with the dhow boats transporting goods on the shores to be exported to Iran. It separates the city from Deira to the north and Bur Dubai to the south.

DANCING WATER FOUNTAIN: The Burj Khalifa water dance is the must-do sightseeing  we don't want to miss when visiting Dubai. The dancing fountain is just beside the Dubai Mall on a man made Burj Khalifa Lake, is the biggest choregraphed fountain in the world. We had dinner at one of the restaurants overlooking the lake and the Burj Khalifa. It was a wonderful water dance performance of the Dubai Mall and Burj Khalifa !

Dubai is an amazing city. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to this cosmopolitan city. It's a safe, clean and fun city to play tourists. We were hoping to go to Abu Dhabi for the day. But Dubai kept us busy with many things to see and do. We'll have to take a rain check on Abu Dhabi. Would love to visit this part of the world again!.
