From Quito, we took a day trip to Lake Quilotoa via the Avenue of Volcanoes. It was a long twelve hour tour by bus with a few stops on the way. The weather was nice and no rain. We had a great time. On the way to the lake, we visited an indigenous village and an artisan shop. We could feel the high altitude (12,500 ft) and not easy to hike to the bottom of the lake. We did only a quarter of the loop and took nice pictures of the lake.

We wrapped up the tour by a group lunch at a restaurant by the lake. We were introduced to the traditional Ecuadorian soup, cream of corn with chunk of potatoes. The restaurant made it even more delicious by adding some shredded chicken in the soup.
The drive back to Quito was uneventful. The rain cooperated and had waited for us to get back to our hotel safe and dry.
