We left Madrid in style in our Hertz rental car, a SEAT Leon. It had a six speed manual transmission and was fun to drive. When we picked up the car, the rental agency asked if we would like to upgrade to a BMW. We turned them down. We liked the Leon.
An hour south of Madrid, we made a stop in Toledo. The streets in Toledo were narrow and winding. It is the most confusing medieval street plan in Spain!. It was noon when we arrived and the main square, Plaza de Zocodover, was packed with tourists as well as the locals. We finally found the entrance to the Toledo Cathedral. This cathedral is the most visited site in Toledo.

By late afternoon, we were on our way to Cordoba and arrived after dark. We parked our car across the Guadalquivir River and walked (with our luggage) to the hotel in the walled historic city. Since no car allowed in the historic city center, we had a good night sleep!
There was a church service getting ready to start when we arrived at 10am. We stayed for the service (in Spanish). The music was great.

I am glad you stayed for the church service--it is always memorable to attend services while traveling in unfamiliar places!
