It was a good choice to spend a few hours in Talkeetna before taking the train down to Anchorage.
Talkeetna is a small town but a popular tourist destination. It offers beautiful views of the majestic mountain, historic buildings, shops and art galleries. It's also a short distance to catch the train to Anchorage.

We look forward to the train ride ever since we started the land tour. The train ride was definitely a highlight of the road trip. We saved it for last!. It is a "state of the art" train with glass dome compartment and completed with dining feature. It was about a three hour trip to take us down to Anchorage where we spent the last night at the Captain Hook hotel.

Anchorage: We stayed at Captain Cook Hotel which is located in the heart of downtwon Anchorage. It's convenient to get around the downtown area on foot. We also took a trolley (tour) excursion to learn some history and see interesting landmarks in Anchorage.
