Abu Dhabi - United Arab Emirates, February 2025

A short sail overnight brought us to Abu Dhabi, the Norwegian Dawn's first port-of-call. Abu Dhabi is the capital city and the second most populated city of the United Arab Emirates. Passengers went through a slow and long immigration process before leaving Zayed Port, the cruise terminal. Immigration officials met with each individual, checked, verified and kept their passport before allowing passenger to go on land. Since the ship did not leave port until midnight, we had quite a long day visiting Abu Dhabi despite the loss of 3 hours for immigration in the morning.

We had a long list of places we wanted to visit while in Abu Dhabi. Top of  the list was the popular Abu Dhabi Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque. Along with another couple from the ship, we rent a private taxi for about six hours to visit the Grand Mosque and other tourist attractions in Abu Dhabi.

Doha, Qatar - February 2025

Our first trip of the new year 2025 was a seventeen day cruise to Africa with the Norwegian Dawn from Doha, Qatar.

We spent two days in Doha before catching the cruise. The Souq Waqi Boutique Hotel where we stayed was located in the popular souq, in the heart of the city over looking the corniche.  From our hotel room, we could see the Arabian gulf and the West Bay skyline.
